Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

 ::Meowwww::
For those of you who are new to the Society of Feline Gardeners, our super secret password is "Meowwww".  In the past we tried to make it more species neutral with 3 paw taps...but evil woofies managed to get in my yard so we had to change the password.  Woofies are still allowed, but they have to check in with my Grete first.
 Mom was quite pleased with my work.  My raspberry bushes are starting to produce beautiful berries.  We are super happy about it since it's been dreary and rainy and we thought we might not get many.
 Unfortunately, our cherry tree is not doing so good.  It's a fine and happy tree, but there are VERY few cherries on it.  Mom has picked about 10 cherries total.  This is devastating news to precious Cory who adores cherries and thinks of the tree as her toy tree.  With so few to eat, mom is not letting Cory play with any of them.
 Grete zooms up and down the grape rows.  Do you notice anything funny about one of the rows?
 With the cooler weather we have been having, we have little milk cartons around the base of our newer plants.  This keeps them warm and happy.  I think I would like it if there was still milk in those cartons, but you know I'll do anything for my plants.
 Some of my seeds have been having trouble sprouting.  I asked Cecilia about it and she just looked away...I think she knows something...
 Cecilia!!!!!  Stop that!  Rolling and squishing the seedlings is NOT helpful!!!

Sigh.

Woofie Wednesday

Hi there pals!  I'm helping out in the yard today...between squeaky ball tosses.
 We have grapes growing!  Someday we hope to have wine!  Mom and dad tell me we already have whine...um...NOT FUNNY.   So what if I vocalize.
 We don't get many grapes yet...but someday.

In the meantime, it's fun to run around the rows and stuff with my ball.
 When I'm done I hang out with my mom and dad on the deck.

But if evil squirrels are running along the fence...off I go!

Tabby Tattletale Tuesday

So last week was kinda un-fun around here. At least for some of us.  As some of you may know, I have issues with getting ::ahem:: constipated.  Yup, that's right.  I get medication everyday to help keep my trains running on time.  I've gone a long long time with not any problems, but this past week I had to let my mom know I was having problems.

Dad packed me up and dropped me off at the vet and I stayed there ALL.DAY.LONG.

But you know what?  They helped me.  And a nice young lady gave me a bath.  And you know what else?  She said I was her favorite cat.  Of the whole day!

Yeah, I may be a gossip, but the girls love me!

Oh and I wasn't the only one hauled off to the v-e-t.
Precious princess Cory was telling mom she was having some pee issues.  See, Cory would wait until mom or dad was watching and then she goes and does her thing on the bathroom floor...or by the back door.   Mom figured Cory was trying to tell her something.  Cory had issues awhile ago but had been doing better...so mom got a good sample off the floor so it could be analyzed.  I mean what a suck up that little Cory is...no one had to steal her pee...she just gave it up, just like that!

Of course the v-e-t man thinks Cory is adorable and all that...she was given some pain meds and we may get a new food.  All seems to be well now.

A certain Figaro is going to be boxed up and hauled off to the v-e-t this Thursday...he has no idea.  He's gonna get ::groomed::!  Ha!

Don't tell him, ok?

Cory Meows About the Balance Beam

Hi everyone!  We want to make sure to remind everyone that we are accepting entries into the Balance Beam competition until July 13th.  We have set up a separate page on the blog.  You can click the tab for Cat-O-Lympics or click our link.  Instructions on how to enter will be on the page, but really it's easy.  Just send a photo of yourself...whether you are a kitty or a woofie...balancing on something.
 Although we will be hosting and not entering, we wanted to demonstrate how it's done.  This past weekend, Bennette agreed to show her skills.  My momma and I were nervous with anticipation.  We did not spot her.  Whoa!
 Ta da!  Yup, that's how it's done!

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

 ::Meowwww::
I love this time of year in the garden.  The beds have been cleaned out and the new plants are in the ground.  Now we have to nurture the baby plants to make sure they grow.  They like it when you sleep near them.  My furs keep them warm.  That's important when your weather has been about 10 degrees cooler than what it should be this time of year.
 I have lots to snoopervise since we have seedlings as well as baby plants.
 Grete woofie hasn't been too serious about her garden work. She's been more interested in her squeaky ball and zooming around the yard.  It's what makes her happy.
 Not that I ever slack off...nope not me....uh...pay no attention to those white paws on that super comfy Adirondack chair.
 Before I say goodbye until next week...we had a VERY special appearance this week from our very own raspberry vines!  Mom does a happy dance when it's raspberry season.
That makes me purr.

Tabby Tuesday

 ::munch munch::
::chomp chomp::
 Um...oh hi there!  Didn't see you sneak up on me ::snarf::  ::chomp:: Um...excuse me if I'm not in a tattletaling mood today...I don't really want to tell anyone about my nip stash that mom harvested....it's ALL MINE!

::lick lick::
 Good news is that there is still tons more growing in the garden  ::munch::

Lazy Monday

 I admit I kinda like Mondays.  I mean...I'm not the one who has to get up and fly out of the house.  I don't have a job.  Well, I guess I sort of do.  It's my job to make sure mom feeds us.  We need our Fancy Feast to start our day.   Once I hear the coffee pot start itself with it's auto timer...I know the Fancy Feast is going to be served up soon.

We get Fancy Feast WAY earlier on Monday that we do on  Saturday or Sunday.

If mom is slow moving...I sit by her head and stare at her.

It's also my job to be cute.

Society of Feline Gardeners- Thursday in the Garden with Jonesie

::Meowwww::
I want to take some time this week to give a shout out to my biggest helpers in the garden.
Figaro may not help too much with the plants (except for eating the nip)...oh yeah and rolling on stuff...but he is VERY talented and helpful in hunting evil moles.  As you can see below, the moles have been making a mess of our lawn.  Figaro sits patiently by the hills and waits for his time to pounce!!!  We have not seen any evidence of him actually catching anything yet, but he gets an A+ for trying!
Grete woofie is my best pal in the whole world.  She follows me around making sure I have everything I need.
It's a tough job watching over my garden, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!  I would make a terrible library cat...too indoorsy for my taste.  Give me the dirt and plants!
I like how my garden makes me realize that I'm part of something much bigger than myself.  I am a small cat in one garden...but through my garden pals all over the world we can see that we are all connected.

Sending purrs to our dear furriend and Society of Feline Gardeners member MoMo as she crosses the Rainbow Bridge today.  She will be in our hearts and gardens forever.

Tuxie Tuesday

Mom and dad got me some cool "new to me" furniture from a neighborhood garage sale.  Yeah, it's all mine.

I've not let anyone else sit on MY chair.

 It's purrfect for those days where I've been "working" so hard in the garden...helping Jonesie as much as I can.

Ok, so I'm not much help with the plants, but you know what?  I help dad hunt moles!  Those beasts make dirt hills EVERYWHERE!   And of course in the course of doing my duty...my paws get a wee bit messy.

All in a days work.
